KOCHI: The High Court adjourned the hearing of the petition challenging the order to exclude local languages ​​Mahal and Arabic from the school syllabus in Lakshadweep to June 9th. Since the academic year in Lakshadweep will begin on the 9th, a division bench comprising the Chief Justice had initially issued an order temporarily staying the implementation of the reform.

However, soon after, the central government's lawyer appeared in court and informed that the syllabus revision for language subjects would not be implemented that day. The petition was withdrawn as the court deemed an interim order not necessary as there was no urgency in the situation.

The complaint is regarding the order issued by Director of Education Padmakar Ram Tripathi on May 14 on behalf of the Lakshadweep Administration as part of the implementation of a three-language system. P.I. Ajaz Akbar, a native of Lakshadweep, approached the court against the implementation of English, Malayalam and Hindi languages, excluding Arabic languages.
