ALAPPUZHA: A woman died after giving birth to twins in Alappuzha on Friday. Nithya Mohanan (28), daughter of KJ Mohanan of Edathua Kodupunna died in the incident. Nithya was admitted to the private medical college in Thiruvalla at 6 am yesterday. The twins were delivered through a cesarean section at 11 am. Later, the family was informed that the uterus would have to be removed due to excessive bleeding.

The family agreed to it. At 3 pm on Friday, the doctors informed the family about Nithya suffering from a sudden heart problem and she was put on ventilator support. Despite pleadings, the family members were not allowed to see her. Their request to move Nithya to another hospital was also denied. At 6 pm on Friday, doctors announced that Nithya had breathed her last.
