THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The weather forecast says that rains will intensify again in Kerala after the four-day break. The Meteorological Department has said that isolated rains are possible. A yellow alert has also been issued in various districts on June 10 and 11. Rain warnings have been issued for six districts over the two days.

Yellow Alert

June 10 (Tuesday): Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam

June 11 (Wednesday: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode

A warning of isolated heavy rain with thunder and lightning is in place. IMD has informed that there is no hindrance to fishing. A cautionary note has been issued to fishermen as strong winds are likely.

The rains that started in the last week of May caused widespread damage in Kerala. In view of this, the authorities have been instructed to make necessary preparations in view of the warning that the rains will intensify again. Instructions have also been given earlier to intensify cleaning programmes at the local level to prevent monsoon diseases.

IMD had earlier warned that the monsoon would intensify in Kerala by next week. It had also stated that the monsoon would become active from June 10 and 11. However, IMD has predicted that there is no possibility of extremely heavy rain like last week.
