KANHANGAD: Junior Superintendent Pavithran was suspended for posting an obscene comment on social media about Ranjitha R Nair, who died in the Ahmedabad plane crash. This is the second time in a year that he has been suspended. A complaint had been filed against Pavithran for caste abuse before. In September last year, he had made caste abuse against MLA and former minister E Chandrasekhar and he was suspended for this.

Pavithran made obscene remarks against the woman who had suffered a tragedy that shook the country within months of returning to service. District Collector K Impashekar has recommended to the government to dismiss him from service. He was arrested by the police for his comments against Ranjitha.

The defamatory and misogynistic comment was made under a Facebook post about Ranjitha Nair. After the incident became widely discussed, the Revenue Department suspended A. Pavithran from the post of Junior Superintendent of Vellarikundu Taluk Office. Although he deleted the comment, the screenshot is still circulating.

The president of Nellikkad Shrimad Paramashiva Vishwakarma Temple was the first to file a complaint against Pavithran. The incident took place in August 2023. The ADM then warned Pavithran in response to the complaint filed regarding the defamation through social media. In February 2024, in a complaint filed by V. Bhuvanachandran alleging defamation on social media, Pavithran's superior warned him to be more careful when posting comments or posts on social media.
