With the increase in health problems in today's busy life, people of all ages are going to gyms and health clubs. Many people who like bodybuilding and a slim body are making it a habit to go to the gym. However, there is a question that many people who go to the gym and work out face, whether they should do cardio or weight training first. This is the report of a new study conducted in this regard.
The new study reports that those who do weight training before cardio lose weight and increase their metabolism faster compared to those who do cardio first. The study was conducted on 45 overweight people between the ages of 18 and 30. They were divided into three groups. One was a control group that did no workouts. The other two were a cardio group and a weight training group.
Key findings:
Fat loss: Those who did weight training first had a greater reduction in body fat and visceral fat.
Muscle performance: The ‘weights-first’ approach increased muscle strength.
Cardiovascular fitness: Both groups showed similar improvements in cardiovascular fitness.
Muscle glycogen stores are depleted when weight training is done first. This forces the body to rely more on fat stores for energy rather than on other sources of energy. This metabolic shift helps to burn fat more effectively. The study also suggests that those who are working out with the goal of losing weight are more likely to benefit from weight training first.
