THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has corrected CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan for his controversial statement in a channel interview that the CPM had allied with the RSS during the Emergency, with the Nilambur polls scheduled to be held on Thursday. "The CPM has never had any ties or alliance with the RSS. RSS are a communal group that is ready to kill CPM members and they have killed 215 comrades," the Chief Minister said in a press conference. "There was an election alliance with the Janata Party. This is not a relationship between the Jana Sangh and the RSS," he said.
"During the Emergency, the CPM stood firm against the RSS violence. There were many martyrs in Kannur alone. It is pure nonsense to allege that the CPM had an understanding with the RSS by hiding the fact that the Jana Sangh merged with the Janata Party formed in 1977. The CPM did not even cooperate with Jana Sangh during the Emergency. The broad front led by Jayaprakash Narayan against the Emergency became the Janata Party."
"O Rajagopal and KG Marar were Congress-backed candidates. The UDF formed an alliance with the RSS-based Janata faction in 1980. Subsequently, the Congress formed such alliances, both secretly and openly, as CoLeBi (short for Congress-League-BJP). The CPM has never taken a stance that would appease the RSS."
Congress is a reliable ally for RSS
Until today, the communists have not united with the RSS, and they will not do so tomorrow either - this is the CPM's stance. No communalism will be held close. There is no compromise with anyone. The RSS sees the Congress as a reliable ally. There is no area of unity with the RSS. It is the CPM that is fighting their fascist ideology head-on.
The RSS sees the communists as its internal enemies. There was no alliance with the RSS at any stage. MV Govindan has said that what he said was reported in a misleading manner. The facts were also explained. Everyone knows the truth. No one should doubt it. The Chief Minister criticized the opposition leader VD Satheesan, without naming him, saying that it was not us who bowed down in front of the picture of the one whom RSS worships (Golwalkar), but some others.
