KANNUR: The Kerala State Human Rights Commission has sought a report on the Kayalode moral policing attack. The state police chief has been directed to submit a report within two days.

Meanwhile, the police have intensified the search for the two absconding SDPI activists. Padiyil Suneer and Ponnyathu Zakaria are absconding. The police have registered a case against five people on the complaint of the man who was the victim of moral policing assault. Three people were taken into custody earlier.

Rahees, who was the victim of a moral policing attack along with the woman, gave a confidential statement before the magistrate on Saturday. Parambai native Raseena was talking to her friend near a mosque in the village when they were attacked last Sunday evening. Raseena committed suicide the next day at night. The police arrested the SDPI workers based on Raseena's suicide note.

Indications that a case will not be filed against the male friend

There are indications that a case will not be filed against the complaint filed by Raseena's family against her male friend. This is based on the preliminary conclusion that the family's allegations are baseless. The complaint filed by the family to the Thalassery ASP states that the male friend threatened her and took 20 sovereign worth of jewellery and Rs. 1.5 lakh from the woman. The preliminary investigation has found that there is no evidence of financial transactions between them. Moreover, there is no mention of the male friend in Raseena's suicide note. The letter also indicates that the male friend is innocent.
