THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain continues in the state. Orange alert has been issued in Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram and Wayanad. The possibility of very heavy rain is predicted in isolated places. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) means that very heavy rain will fall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm in 24 hours.


Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are on yellow alert today. The possibility of isolated heavy rain is predicted. The IMD means that heavy rain will fall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Rain with thunderstorms is expected.


There is a possibility of moderate rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 50 kmph at isolated places in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod in the next three hours. The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of moderate rain and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Alappuzha.


An orange alert has been declared in Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad tomorrow and yellow alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod. Yellow alert has been issued in Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on Friday.
