THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. An orange alert has been issued in three districts today. Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad are on orange alert. The possibility of very heavy rain has been predicted in isolated places. The IMD has defined very heavy rainfall of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm to lash in 24 hours.


Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod are on yellow alert. The possibility of isolated heavy rain has been predicted. The IMD has defined heavy rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain to fall in 24 hours. Rain with thunderstorms is expected.


According to the latest radar images, moderate/heavy rainfall and strong winds up to 50 kmph are likely in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki of Kerala. The IMD has informed that moderate rainfall and strong winds up to 50 kmph are likely in Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad.
