DEHRADUN: A bus carrying 20 passengers skidded off the road and fell into the Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand. Two people have died and eight have been rescued. The search for 10 missing is underway. The accident took place near Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand. Police and the State Disaster Response Force are carrying out the rescue operations.


The rescued people have been shifted to a nearby hospital. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman told media that a tempo traveler met with the accident. No further details of the injured have been released.

The bus was going uphill towards Badrinath when the driver lost control and fell into the river. The 31-seater bus had 20 people onboard, including the driver. Families from Rajasthan and Gujarat had boarded the bus for Char Dham Yatra.
