Director Lijo Jose Pellissery has responded to actor Joju George's recent revelation in connection with the film Churuli. He responded via a Facebook post. Pellissery shared the details including the remuneration given to Joju for his three-day cameo role.

Joju George had earlier said that he was not paid for acting in Churuli. The actor had revealed that the film was shot in two versions. The makers had assured him that only the clean version without bad words would be released. They told him that the explicit version would be for awards consideration. However, the version with the bad words was released in theatres and the makers did not show the controversy to inform him beforehand, the actor said. The director has now come forward against this.

Dear Joju,
This explanation is after taking into account the mental distress caused to the producers, my friends. The movie with an A certificate has not been released in theaters yet. There is a high court verdict regarding the language investigated by a committee. I don't remember any of us misleading Joju during the shooting of the film. The character Thankan Chettan is one having a good understanding of this language.
