NEW DELHI: Parag Jain, a 1989-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the next head of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) by the Narendra Modi government on Saturday. The appointment will be for a period of two years. Parag Jain succeeds Ravi Sinha, who completes tenure on June 30.

He is the head of the Aviation Research Centre, which played a vital role during Operation Sindoor. Parag Jain previously served as the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Chandigarh. He represented India in Canada and Sri Lanka.

He has also been posted in Jammu and Kashmir, where he played an important role in the center’s counter-terrorism strategy in the union territory.
