KOLLAM: A prominent lawyer purportedly murdered his former bank employee son and committed suicide in a shocking incident in Kollam. Advocate P. Srinivasa Pillai (79) and his son, Vishnu S. Pillai (42) of Akshaya Nagar 29, Kadappakada, were found dead inside the house on Saturday. The police have concluded that the father committed suicide after killing his son.
Vishnu often created brawls with his parents over money. His mother, Rama, lives in Thiruvananthapuram with her daughter Vidya. Rama’s phone calls to home were left unattended for a few days, which raised suspicions. Vidya, her husband and Rama reached their home in Kollam the other day to see that the doors of the house were left open. When they looked through the window, they found Srinivasa Pillai hanging. An alarm was raised. When the police broke down the door and entered, they found Vishnu's body in a pool of blood in the bedroom.
Vishnu had a wound on the back of his head. A blood-stained machete was found nearby. It is suspected that the murder and suicide took place after Friday afternoon. The bodies were shifted to Parippally Medical College under the leadership of Kollam East CI Anilkumar.
Vishnu is an M.Tech graduate. After getting a job as a probation officer in SBI, he got married, but the relationship did not last long. Vishnu later registered his marriage with another woman, but still, his storyline was no different. After resigning from his job in SBI, Vishnu started dreaming of entrepreneurship and was always preparing to make the big jump into business. He also passed courses, including an MBA. According to neighbours, Srinivasa Pillai would always give money to Vishnu when demanded.
Although boards of various ventures were placed on the wall of the two-story house in several stages, nothing developed to fruition.
