KOZHIKODE: Police say the accused tried to divert the investigation into the murder and burial of Sultan Bathery native Hemachandran a year and a half ago. Hemachandran's phone was taken to Gundalpet and Mysore to mislead the investigation. The police also stated that the suspicion in Hemachandran's voice when his daughter called him gave a breakthrough in the investigation.
The accused had killed Hemachandran the very next day he was abducted. Hemachandran's money transaction with accused Noushad is what resulted in the murder. Police added that the body samples will be sent for testing.
Hemachandran's body was taken to Kozhikode Medical College after completing the postmortem from Ooty Medical College. The postmortem report says that Hemachandran was killed in March last year. It has also been found that there were serious injuries on his body. The initial findings of the postmortem report are that these injuries were the cause of death.
The body will be kept in the morgue until the DNA sample test results of Hemachandran and his relatives are received. Jyotish Kumar, a native of Sultan Bathery, and Ajesh B.S., a native of Vellappana Pallavadi, were taken into custody by the police. Efforts are underway to bring back Noushad, a native of Beenachi, Wayanad, who is suspected to be the main accused, from abroad. The accused have given statements that they killed Hemachandran at their friend's house in Sultan Bathery.
