THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The health condition of former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, who is undergoing treatment following cardiac arrest, continues to be critical. He is undergoing treatment at the SUT Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Although he is responding to medicines, his blood pressure and kidney function have not returned to normal, the SUT Hospital authorities said.


The government had appointed an expert team consisting of seven doctors from the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College to evaluate his health. The expert team assessed that the functioning of his internal organs is not effective. Dialysis has been resumed. The expert team also recommended that the present treatment and ventilator support be continued. A medical board will meet in the morning to assess his condition. VS was admitted to the hospital on June 23 following a heart attack. Since then, he has been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
