THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM general secretary M A Baby said the treatment of former Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, admitted in the hospital following a heart attack, will continue as usual. The doctors treating him said that he has some difficulties. The doctors will be continuing dialysis, he said while talking to the media from the hospital.
The doctors are taking decisions after assessing all circumstances. It is expected that he will overcome the crisis considering the help of medical science, his determination, his regular exercise and health habits. He is still in a serious condition. Baby also clarified that it is a relief knowing that VS is responding to medicines.
VS is undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram SUT Hospital. Although he is responding to the medicines, the SUT Hospital authorities had earlier informed that his blood pressure and kidney function have not returned to normal. The government has appointed an expert team consisting of seven doctors from the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College to assess his health condition. The expert team has assessed that the functioning of internal organs is not effective. It is reported that a medical board will meet to assess his health condition. VS was admitted to the hospital on June 23 following a heart attack. Since then, he has been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit.
