KUNNAMKULAM: The family of the young Malayali monk, who died mysteriously during his journey from Nepal, alleged foul play in the death. Sribin alias Swami Brahmananda Giri (38), a resident of Kurumbur in West Mangad, died under mysterious circumstances.
Last Thursday, Sribin contacted the head priest of the temple in Kunnamkulam and said that he was on a train journey back to Kerala. Strangely, Sribin also informed that his train was passing through Telangana, and expressed fear of an attack from a gang in his same compartment.
On Saturday, the Telangana police found Swami Brahmananda Giri’s dead body on a railway track in Telangana. Sribin had taken up monasticism six years ago.
Sribin is the son of the late Srinivasan and Sundari Bhai. Sister: Sreeji. Sister's husband: Saneesh. The funeral was held at Cheruthuruthy crematorium. The family demanded that the mystery surrounding Brahmananda Giri's death be brought to light. The BJP Mandal Committee, led by PAC Chairman P.K. Krishnadas, submitted a petition to Union Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw. BJP Guruvayur North District President Adv. Nivedita Subramanian is also planning to file a complaint with the Union Railway Minister.
