THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The crisis in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital should be resolved, said Dr Haris Chirakkal, head of the urology department. He added that he blamed only the bureaucracy. While talking to the media Thursday morning, he said that he is ready to accept any punishment and that all charges have been handed over to a junior doctor.

‘I have handed over all evidences to all the things mentioned before the investigation panel. My colleagues have favored my statement. All what I said is correct. My revelations yielded results. Was able to perform surgeries properly. They all came to see us, smiled and returned home happily. With that, our problems have ended.

I have said many things to the investigation committee. Many problems still remain unresolved. It should be resolved. The government has assured to take the initiative. It was not right to openly talk about the issues. It is my mistake and I know that and there was no other way. I did not expect so much. I have not blamed the government or the health department in the post. I blamed only the bureaucracy. However, the issue went out of my hand and I was under pressure.

This affected the chief minister, the health minister and the party the most. These three had given me a lot of support. Some used my posts against them. It was because of them that I got transferred from Kottayam. This is not my strategy. I spoke openly as a doctor. I have already handed over the responsibilities to others before any action is taken against me. Mine is not a fight against the government. I am ready to accept any punishment. I did not stain the medical college. It is a place where very famous doctors’ work. There are excellent employees in all departments,' said Haris.
