DEHRADUN: A 75-year-old woman was seriously injured after attacked by Rottweiler dogs. The incident happened in Jakhan of Rajpur area of Dehradun. The police have taken the owner of the dogs into custody. The two ferocious dogs attacked Kaushalya Devi when she was going to the temple Sunday morning as usual. Hearing the screams of the woman, her neighbours came out and somehow rescued her from the clutches of the dogs.
The condition of Devi undergoing treatment in the hospital is serious. Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that a case has been registered against the owner of the dogs, Nafees (40), on the complaint of her son Umang Nirwal. During the investigation, the police found that Nafees did not have a license from the Municipal Corporation for keeping dangerous breed dogs.
The police said that they are questioning Nafees. The owners are accused of not coming to save her from the attack. The police said that strict action will be taken against those who keep dangerous breeds of dogs without a license.
The Centre has banned the import, breeding, purchase and sale of 23 foreign breed dogs, including Rottweilers, Pitbulls and American Bulldogs. Ajay Singh also said that if you see such dogs, you should call 112 or inform the municipal corporation.
