KANNUR: Vigilance raided the house of Muslim League National Committee member and Madayi Grama Panchayat President Kaiikaran Saheed in Mattul North based on a report that he had amassed wealth beyond his income. A 33-member team of officials, led by DySPs Suresh and Ramesh from the Kozhikode Special Cell Vigilance, inspected the residence at 6 am on Thursday. It is learnt that important documents were seized.
Raids were conducted simultaneously at the house of Kaiikkaran Saheed's close friend in Mattul and the office of the Madayi Panchayat President. In 2021, a complaint reached Kannur Vigilance against Kaiikkaran Saheed, who is also the chairman of Puthiyangadi Jamaat High School, alleging that he had amassed assets beyond his income.
Subsequently, the Kannur Vigilance conducted a preliminary investigation and submitted a report to the Vigilance Director, after which the Kozhikode Special Cell was assigned for the investigation. In this investigation, it was confirmed that the leader has indeed amassed wealth above his income. Following this, another vigilance team conducted an investigation, and based on these reports, the Kozhikode special cell team led another search at his house.
