ALAPPUZHA: A case has been registered against a woman and her mother for thrashing a five-year-old UKG student in Cherthala, on a complaint filed. The child said that his mother beat him with a scale and that his grandmother also abuses him. The ChildLine workers intervened following the boy’s statement. The child was found in a tea shop with injuries on his face and neck. His mother usually leaves him in the tea shop and goes to sell lottery tickets.
The information came to light when this came to the attention of PTA President Adv Dinoop. Reports said a case was registered following this. The boy was taken over by the Child Welfare Committee that night itself. His mother’s male friend was arrested on May 24 for attacking the boy. He died later. The police said further investigation will be conducted into the incident in which the child was injured.
