KOLLAM: Minister V Sivankutty said that Kerala Kaumudi is rooted in values and ethics and brings honest news to the people. He was inaugurating the 114th anniversary of Kerala Kaumudi and the 72nd anniversary of Murukkumon UPS at Murukkumon UPS Nilamel.
"The growth in technology has created a great revolution in the media sector. Information is reaching our fingertips at a rapid pace. In addition to print, visual, audio and video media also have a great impact. This has given a new dimension to media work. When media institutions move into the hands of big corporate powers, their profit motives and interests are likely to influence the news. This questions the impartiality and integrity of the media. It is in this context that Kerala Kaumudi is relevant. Kerala Kaumudi has always been a model for conducting media work with social commitment and courage. The role played by Kerala Kaumudi in shaping Kerala is invaluable," said V. Sivankutty.
School PTA President N. Niju presided. Kerala Kaumudi Resident Editor and Kollam Unit Chief S. Radhakrishnan delivered the introductory speech. Murukkumon UPS Manager R. Lakshmanan Nair presented the school development report. R. Lakshmanan Nair, Chadayamangalam Harisree Hospital and De-Addiction Center Medical Director V. Sajeev, and his wife Jaya Sajeev were honored by the Minister at the function. Kerala Kaumudi Kollam Bureau Chief B. Unnikannan gave the welcome speech and school headmistress Latha S. Nair proposed the vote of thanks.
