NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will today consider the caveat plea filed by CBSE students seeking to hear their plea against the plea filed by state syllabus students seeking quashing of the rank list for engineering admissions in Kerala. However, Kerala will inform the Supreme Court that it does not intend to complicate the admission procedures. The plea will be considered by a bench of justices P S Narasimha and A S Chandukar.
Four CBSE students, through advocate Aljo K Joseph filed the caveat plea requesting not take a decision ithout hearing their arguments. The state syllabus students filed the plea after the state government made it clear that it would not approach the Supreme Court against the high court order rejecting the new formula.
Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan and advocate P S Zulfikal Ali, appearing for the state syllabus students, had argued that the amendment to the prospectus was made to eliminate the disparity between state syllabus and CBSE students in the rank list. Senior advocate Raju Ramachandran and advocate Aljo K Joseph, who appeared for the students, said that if the court intervenes, it will seriously affect the future of CBSE students.
