ULLOOR: A lawyer, seriously injured after jumping from the top of the Medical College Pay Ward building, succumbed to his injuries. Kesavan.M (68), a Sreekaryam Elamkulam native, died in the incident.

The incident took place at around 4.30 pm yesterday when Keshavan jumped from the top of the three-storey pay ward building towards the ACR Lab. He was admitted to the emergency department of the Medical College Hospital with injuries to his legs and spine, internal bleeding and other serious injuries.

Keshavan entered the hospital building with a pass issued to visit patients in the pay ward. He has been working as a junior lawyer in the office of Adv. Saifuddin, an advocate in the Vanchiyoor court, for four years. He turned to the legal profession after retiring from KSRTC 12 years ago. He had suffered from a stroke almost two weeks ago. Subsequent tests confirmed hepatitis B and fatty liver, which left him in severe mental distress.

No suicide notes or other documents were found on the body or at his home. The body has been shifted to the Medical College morgue. Wife: Prabha. K.
