PATHANAMTHITTA: In a tragic incident, a woman died after a family of three attempted suicide due to financial distress. The deceased has been identified as Leela, a native of Randamkutty, Kodumon. She was found after reportedly consuming a large number of sleeping pills along with her husband Neelambaran and their son Dhipin. While Leela passed away, her husband and son are currently undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College.

Initial reports suggest that financial difficulties were the reason behind the suicide attempt. The family had taken a loan from a private money-lending firm. Employees from the firm allegedly visited their home and issued threats, which deeply affected the family, causing severe emotional distress.

The family reportedly decided to end their lives yesterday evening. However, Dhipin backed out at the last minute, saying he was scared. In the morning, Dhipin and his father found Leela dead. Both father and son then consumed a large number of sleeping pills. Leela's body will be handed over to her relatives after the post-mortem examination.
