THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in Kerala on Saturday. Kerala is receiving rain due to a low-pressure area over the West Bengal coast and the northwest Bay of Bengal.
The Indian Meteorological Department predicted a possibility of rain in the state for the next five days. Today, IMD declared an orange alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts.
A yellow alert was declared in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts today.
A low-pressure area is located along the coast from the Haryana coast to the Kerala coast. A very low-pressure area is located over the West Bengal coast and the northwest Bay of Bengal. In the next 24 hours, the Gangetic plain is likely to move towards West Bengal and north Odisha and Jharkhand regions. As a result, the rains will continue till July 29. Fishing has also been banned along the Kerala coast.
