KOTTAYAM: Interrogation notices have been issued to actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine in a financial fraud case. The notice was issued by the Thalayolaparambu police. The notice has directed to produce documents and the details of the bank accounts. The police action is based on the complaint of producer V S Shamnas, who alleged that they had cheated money during the production of the film 'Action Hero Biju 2'.

A fraud case was registered against actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine. Shamnas is also the co-producer of the film 'Mahaveeryar' starring Nivin Pauly. The Thalayolaparamba police have registered a case under the non-bailable section on the producer's complaint. The case is that gave the distribution rights of the film 'Action Hero Biju 2' to someone else, hiding that he had received Rs 1.90 crore from Shamnas.

The complaint said that following the failure of 'Mahaveeryar', Nivin Pauly had promised to pay Rs 95 lakh and offered him a partnership in Action Hero Biju 2, directed by Abrid Shine. In April 2024, Shamnas handed over Rs 1.90 crore for the production of the film.

Later, after writing a letter to the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce, the title of the film was changed from Abrid Shine Productions banner to Shamnas' Indian Movie Makers banner. In the meantime, following a dispute between the two parties on the budget of the film, the contract with Shamnas was concealed and the distribution rights of the film were handed over to another company operating in Dubai. Accordingly, the FIR states that the distribution rights of five crores were secured and two crores were received as an advance.

Meantime, Nivin Pauly had earlier responded that the case was registered against him by hiding the mediation talks and distorting facts. The actor had also stated that appropriate legal action would be taken. Mediation talks have been underway in the complaint since June 28 as per the court's instructions. The new case was filed without following the court's instructions. Nivin Pauly had said that truth will prevail.
