PALAKKAD: There is a turning point in the incident, where a woman found wandering in the street was taken to the hospital dead. It was S Subbayyan of Meenakshipuram Pattanchery, who took her to the hospital dead. Police said Subbayyan had himself killed her brutally.

Her clothes were found torn. When she screamed during the rape, he stuffed cloth in her mouth. Beat marks were seen on her lips, neck and body. The postmortem report said that her internal organs were damaged.

When she tried to resist the rape, her strangled her to death. After raping her, he took her to the Palakkad District Hospital. He came with the woman, who was dead on Wednesday night.

He told the doctors that he brought her to the hospital after seeing her lying unconscious on the roadside. During examination, the doctors found her dead and saw the marks on her body.

He tried to flee from the hospital. The security stopped him and informed the police. He initially told them that she was his wife. When he started talking contradictorily, he was taken into custody and questioned. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation based on CCTV footage.

The police conducted a detailed search in the area where the woman was allegedly found unconscious. The woman was a member of a family living near Olavakode in Palakkad.
