KANNUR: The accused in the case of attempting to assassinate Rajya Sabha MP and BJP leader C Sadanandan have surrendered. The accused surrendered thirty years after the incident. Former minister and CPM leader KK Shailaja also attended the send-off ceremony for the accused. KK Shailaja reached the Pazhassi South Local Committee office to send the CPM workers to jail. Visuals of Shailaja participating in the program have come out.

The footage shows party workers participating in the event and CPM workers chanting slogans for the accused who are going to jail to surrender. The accused surrendered to the court after 30 years in the case of C Sadanandan MP's leg being hacked off. The accused, who are CPM activists, appeared in court after the Supreme Court also rejected their appeal.

The trial court had earlier convicted eight CPM accused. However, the accused had appealed against the conviction in the higher courts and were on bail. The accused were sentenced to seven years in prison. The accused, who were sentenced to prison, will be transferred to Kannur Central Jail today. The accused in the case surrendered to the court after receiving a send-off at Pazhassi, Mattannur. Former minister KK Shailaja also participated in this program. A video of the send-off before the accused went to jail was also released earlier.
