THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. A cyclonic circulation is located over South Kerala and over the Bay of Bengal near the Tamil Nadu coast. The heavy rain in Kerala is a result of this.
There is also a change in the rain warning. Today, there is a red alert in four districts. Red alert is in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Malappuram districts. Tomorrow, there is a red alert in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The possibility of extremely heavy rainfall is predicted. The Meteorological Department defines 'Extremely Heavy Rainfall' as rainfall exceeding 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

IMD has declared an orange alert in the above-mentioned districts. The possibility of very heavy rainfall has been predicted in isolated places. The Meteorological Department defines 'Very Heavy Rainfall' as rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm in 24 hours.

IMD has declared a yellow alert in the above-mentioned districts. The possibility of isolated heavy rainfall is predicted. Heavy rainfall is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall is received in 24 hours. Extremely intense rainfall can cause accidents. A tendency for heavy rainfall is expected in a short period of time. It may cause heavy currents and flash floods. There is also a possibility of waterlogging in urban areas and generally low-lying areas. The situation where the rain continues may cause landslides and mudslides. The public and government agencies should be extremely vigilant.
