THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A big theft was reported in Rajadhani Bar in East Fort on Tuesday. The cash counter was broken, and Rs 1.8 lakh was stolen along with Rs 21,640 worth of liquor. The Fort Police has launched an investigation focusing on the accused, an Assam native.

It was learnt that the theft was noticed when the staff arrived at the bar at 7 am on Tuesday. After having drinks from the bar on Monday night, the Assam native evaded the eyes of the staff to remain in the bar's toilet to commit the theft.

When the bar was closed at 12 at night, the Assam native came out from his hiding and committed the theft. CCTV footage shows that the accused left the bar through the service door at the back at 2:30 am with money and liquor bottles. The police have intensified the investigation.
