WASHINGTON: India has strongly responded to US President Donald Trump's continued threats over Russian oil imports. India asked if the US is not importing uranium and fertilizer from Russia. When a journalist asked Trump about this at a press conference, Trump claimed that he was unaware of Washington’s uranium and fertilizer trade with Moscow.
‘India says that US is importing uranium and fertilizer from Russia. What do you have to say about that?’ the journalist asked. Trump responded by saying, ‘I don't know anything about it. I have to check it out and then answer.’
Journalist: India says the U.S. buys Russian uranium and fertilizers while criticising India for buying Russian energy. Your response?

Meantime, Russia has clarified that Trump's threats against India are illegal. It is unacceptable to put pressure on countries to stop trade with Russia. Russia also reminded that it is the right of sovereign countries to choose their trading partners. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte's threat last month to impose sanctions on countries that continue to trade with Russia, including India, had sparked a controversy.
