THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The court will take a decision today on accepting the clean chit given by vigilance to ADGP MR Ajith Kumar in the disproportionate assets case. The Thiruvananthapuram Special Vigilance Court will pronounce the order. The court had asked for the documents including the case diary and investigation report. The complainant argued that there are serious errors in the investigation and that even the ADGP's asset details were not investigated. The government had earlier accepted the clean chit.

The vigilance investigation against Ajith Kumar was in connection with the disproportionate assets based on allegations raised by P V Anvar. The vigilance director then submitted a report stating that Ajith Kumar has not amassed any wealth.

Ajith Kumar, who was earlier the chief of armed police battalion, was appointed as the excise commissioner late last month. The DGP had submitted a report to the government demanding action against Ajith Kumar, who had travelled to Sabarimala Sannidhanam in a tractor in violation of the high court order. The high court had also strongly criticized Ajith Kumar's action. Following this, a decision was taken to transfer Ajith Kumar from the police. Ajith Kumar was appointed as the excise commissioner in last May, but the appointment was cancelled following opposition from employees' organizations.
