THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Padmanabhan Maruthampadithayar (Maruthampodi Narayanan Padmanabhan), former Periya Nambi of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, passed away on Saturday.

Padmanabhan was the former chief priest of the Ettumanoor Mahadeva Temple and the Kumaranallur Devi Temple. He performed the puja rituals as the Panchagavya Nambi at the Padmanabhaswamy Temple from 2008 to 2009 and as the Periya Nambi from 2009 to 2015. He is the winner of the Best Farmer award in the Pullur Periya Panchayat.

Wife: Usha Padmanabhan. Children: Kishore Narayan, Padmakumar. Daughter-in-law: Krishnapriya. Brothers: Kesavan Anjanam Thodithayer, Sivadas Maruthampadithayar (Melshanthi of Thiruvangad Sree Ramaswamy Temple, Thalassery), Sathyan Maruthampadithayar (Melshanthi of Pullur Vishnumangalam Mahavishnu Temple), Sree Raman Maruthampadithayar (Teacher, Nileswaram Raja's High School). The funeral was held at Maruthampodi Mutt.
