NEW DELHI: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has indirectly criticised US President Donald Trump. Rajnath Singh has criticised that global powers are trying to destroy India's economic progress. The criticism was made indirectly, taking a dig at Trump's new tariff policies on Indian products.

"Some 'boss' is jealous. They cannot accept India's growth. The goal is to destroy the country's economy. Some are unhappy with how fast India is developing. They wonder how India is growing so fast when 'I am everyone's boss'," the Defence Minister criticised during an event. Trump had imposed a 25 percent tariff on Indian products in retaliation for buying Russian oil. A 25 percent penalty was imposed in addition to this tariff hike. Rajnath Singh was reacting to this. Trump had threatened to raise the tariff rates further and also insulted the Indian economy, saying it is dead.

'And many are trying that the things made in India, by the hands of Indians become more expensive than the things made in those countries, so that when the things become expensive, the world will not buy them. This effort is being made. But India is progressing so fast, I say with full confidence that now no power in the world can stop India from becoming a big power of the world. As far as the defence sector is concerned, you will be happy to know that now we are exporting defence items worth more than 24 thousand crores. This is the strength of India, this is the new defence sector of the new India and the export is increasing continuously," said Rajnath Singh.
