THRISSUR: Congress-backed students’ organisation KSU filed a complaint with police about the disappearance of Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi. The complaint was filed by KSU Thrissur District President Gokul Guruvayur at Thrissur East Police Station. The complaint, submitted through email, demands an investigation into Suresh Gopi’s disappearance.

The complaint itself is a sardonic jab at the union minister for hitherto remaining silent on the incident of Kerala nuns facing attack in Chhattisgarh.

Orthodox Church Thrissur Diocese Bishop Yuhanon Meletius earlier took to Facebook to make a similar criticism at Suresh Gopi for his silence over the whole issue.

“An actor whom we Thrissur people, selected and sent to Delhi is missing. I wonder if I should inform the police," Yuhanon Meletius wrote on Facebook. Church leaders and other prominent religious clerics had put the BJP on the defensive over the nun attack issue, and MoS Suresh Gopi also received his share of criticism for remaining idle.

Sister Vandana Francis, a native of Thalassery, and Sister Preethi Mary, a native of Angamaly, members of the Sisters of Mary Immaculate of Assisi, were arrested on July 25, over charges of human trafficking and forced conversion. The duo were allowed bail after three days of tumultuous politics and intervention from political elites, including the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
