KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has stayed the cheating case against actor Nivin Pauly and director Abrid Shine. The high court has stayed the case filed by producer Shamnas, alleging that Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine cheated him of Rs 1 crore in connection with the film Action Hero Biju 2.
The complainant Shamnas was one of the producers of the Nivin Pauly film Mahaveeryar. Shamnas claimed that they owe him more than Rs 90 lakh in connection with the production of that film. He also said that he paid Rs 1.9 crore after promising to make him a partner in Nivin Pauly's new film Action Hero Biju 2. However, there occurred some differences of opinion between them. At this stage, the distribution rights of the film were given to another company and he lost Rs 1.9 crore.
However, both argued that this is a case under the consideration of the court and that while the Ernakulam Sub Court is considering this matter, the Thalayolaparamba police are proceeding with the case without any reason based on Shamnas' complaint. Nivin and Shine argued in the court that the police investigation before the sub court's verdict is unnecessary. Following this, the high court stayed the investigation into the case.
