DARWIN: South Africa won the second match of the Twenty20 series against Australia. Aiden Markram and his team defeated the hosts by 53 runs and levelled the series. Batting first, South Africa scored 218 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs, led by young player Dewald Brevis's brilliant century of 125*(56). Chasing the target, the Aussies' reply ended at 165 runs in 17.4 overs.
Brevis became the record holder for being the youngest player to score a century in T20Is for South Africa. "Baby AB's" innings included 12 fours and eight sixes from 56 balls. Tristan Stubbs 31(22), Aiden Markram 14(10), Lhuan Dre Pretorius 10(10), Van der Dussen 5(3), Corbin Bosch 0(3), Kagiso Rabada 5(4) were the other contributors. Ben Dwarshuis and Glenn Maxwell took two wickets each for Australia.
In reply, Tim David top-scored for Australia with a half-century of 50 (24). Wicketkeeper Alex Carey made 26 (18) and captain Mitchell Marsh made 22 (13). Travis Head made 5 (8), Cameron Green made 9 (7) and Mitchell Owen made 8 (13). Kwena Maphaka and Corbin Bosch took three wickets each for South Africa. The two teams are now level in the three-match series.
