WASHINGTON: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reached the White House for high-level peace talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, seeking ways to end the ongoing war with Russia. The discussions are currently in progress. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Trump for his peace efforts and appealed for U.S. support to stop the conflict. Trump said that Russian President Vladimir Putin also wants peace, adding that if everything goes well, the war could end today. U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance is also attending the talks.
French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are also present at the White House.
This meeting comes right after Trump’s discussions in Alaska with Putin on ending the war. Trump had met Zelenskyy earlier in February, but that meeting ended in disagreement.
