There are few homes that do not use a pressure cooker. Since it helps in cooking food easily, a pressure cooker has become an indispensable appliance in kitchens. Since food can be cooked quickly using a pressure cooker, it can save time and gas. Although there are many benefits of a pressure cooker, one needs to be very careful while using it. Careless use can cause major accidents. Many people have lost their lives in accidents where pressure cookers explode.

One problem faced by most people who use a pressure cooker is that when it whistles, water falls from the top and sides of the lid. When this happens, water falls inside the gas stove, and the surroundings become dirty. Moreover, the food will not cook as intended. There is a good solution to such problems.

• The silicone/rubber sealing ring of the cooker should be checked. If there is a crack, cut or other defect in the ring, it may leak.
• Check the vent tube of the cooker. If food or dirt or anything else has got into the tube, it should be replaced and cleaned.
• Check if the lid of the cooker is closed properly. If the lid is not closed properly, there will be a leak.
• Do not fill the cooker with food to be cooked. Food should be filled only up to three-quarters of the cooker.
• Fill the cooker with water only until it reaches the top of the food. There will be a leak even if there is too much water.
