KANNUR: A woman died after a lorry carrying things for her daughter’s post death function, overturned in the courtyard of her house. The dead is Janu (85) of Kundanchal near North LP School. Janu’s daughter Pushpa’s 41st death function day was scheduled for today. Pushpa died of cancer.
Janu's relatives, including her children and grandchildren, had arrived for the function. The mini lorry carrying items for the function was parked near the house when the accident occurred. After stopping the lorry, the driver stepped out to shift the scooter parked there. In the meantime, the lorry rolled and overturned into the yard. The vehicle stopped in front of the washing stone next to the road.
Janu was washing clothes there at the time. Janu's hands were chopped off and she also suffered serious head injuries when she came under the vehicle. Janu was then taken out after shifting the lorry from there using an earth mover. She was immediately taken to Chokli Medical Centre and given primary treatment and was later taken to a hospital at Chala in Kannur, but her life could not be saved. Janu will be cremated in the premises of her house today. Her husband is late Kunjikannan. Her other children are Raveendran, Sreemathi, Surendran, Aneesh and in-laws Nalini, Mukundan, Shyja, Anitha, and the late Soman.
