VENJARAMOODU: A meeting was held under the leadership of D.K. Murali MLA to implement traffic reforms in Venjaramoodu town during the Onam season. It has been decided to restrict traffic through Venjaramoodu junction from Wednesday till September.

As part of the traffic control, stops will be arranged for KSRTC buses going from Kottarakkara to the Thiruvananthapuram side past Safari Hotel and for buses coming from Thiruvananthapuram to the Kottarakkara side at Venjaramoodu High School. Only buses ending their journey at Venjaramoodu will be allowed to enter the stand.

Vehicles travelling from Kottarakkara to Thiruvananthapuram and vice versa, except those operated by KSRTC, will be diverted via the Ambalamukku-Pirappancode road. Parking at Venjaramoodu junction will be avoided, while the Panchayat Police will take steps to install no-parking boards at Venjaramoodu junction.

Announcements regarding parking arrangements will be made in conjunction with traders and businessmen. Street vendors will be arranged in a way that avoids traffic congestion. As part of traffic control, the uncovered drains on both sides of the road will be immediately covered with slabs.

The meeting was attended by Attingal DySP S. Manjulal, SHO Azad Abdul Kalam, Nellanad Panchayat President Bina Rajendran, District Member K. Sheelakumari, representatives from KSRTC, KSTP, KRFC, and ULCC, as well as representatives of the three-tier Panchayat.
