THRISSUR: Accused in the case of damaging the Ganesha idol during the Ganesh festival procession has been arrested. Kaipamangalam police have arrested Manoj (48), a native of Painoor, Edathiruthy. Manoj, who was under the influence of alcohol, entered the procession held as part of the Ganesh festival at Palla Pookode temple premises around 6:30 pm on Sunday and damaged the Ganesh idol and created a stir. The court remanded the accused.

A protest demonstration and public meeting were held under the leadership of Hindu Aikya Vedi to protest the violence against the Ganesh idol during the Ganesh festival. The demonstration alleged that the perpetrator of the violence was a CPM member.
