THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister K B Ganesh Kumar had earlier announced that KSRTC employees would get Rs 3,000 as festival allowance and Rs 7,000 for those eligible for bonus. The bonus is being distributed in KSRTC after a long time.

Salary for permanent employees will be distributed on September 1 and bonus and festival allowance on September 3. It was initially announced that temporary employees would be given Rs 1,000 as festival allowance. The minister's announcement was at the last Transpo exhibition. The employees received the announcement with great applause.

However, only those who get a salary of up to Rs 24,000 are eligible for bonus. Most of the 22,500 permanent employees have a salary of over Rs 35,000. In that case, only less than ten will be eligible for the bonus. The management is of the view that the bonus limit cannot be renewed due to the present state of KSRTC. This means that only a few people will get the opportunity to buy the bonus this time.

Call for dearness allowance
KSRTC is the only government firm in the state where there is zero percent dearness allowance. Only the basic salary is being received from 2021. The labor organizations are strongly demanding the provision of dearness allowance.
