FORT MORGAN: A passenger was killed after two small planes collided mid-air while trying to land at the airport. The incident took place in southeastern Colorado. Three others were injured in the accident. The collision occurred while both planes were attempting to land at Fort Morgan Municipal Airport.
The incident took place on Sunday morning. Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that the aircraft involved in the accident were a Cessna 172 and an Extra Flugzeugbau. The impact of the collision caused both planes to crash and catch fire. There were four people in total on board the two aircraft. Those aboard the Cessna escaped with minor injuries. In the Flugzeugbau, one person was injured, while another died at the crash site.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and FAA officials have launched an investigation into the incident. Fort Morgan is a small town located about 130 kilometres northeast of Denver. It has a population of around 12,000.
