KASARGOD: In the incident where a family attempted mass suicide by drinking acid in Kanhangad, the youngest son Rakesh, who was in a critical condition, also died. He died while undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. The family attempted suicide by drinking acid last Thursday. Rakesh's father Gopi (58), mother Indira (55), and elder brother Ranjesh (37) died on the same day.

Locals said the suicide was due to financial obligations. The suicide attempt came to light when Gopi called a neighbor in the morning and informed him that he had consumed acid. His neighbor informed the police and rushed them to the hospital. Although they were taken to the hospital, their lives could not be saved. The police are investigating the incident.
