THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indian Meteorological Department has announced that there is a possibility of rain in Kerala for the next five days. Yellow alert has been issued in various districts. There is a yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on 9th and in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on the 10th of this month.

Isolated heavy rains are expected. Heavy rains are defined as rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. IMD has informed that isolated places in Kerala are likely to experience thundershowers and strong winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kmph till the 10th.

Thunderstorm Warnings

Thunderstorms are dangerous. They cause great damage to human and animal lives, electrical and communication networks and household appliances connected to electrical conductors. Therefore, the public should take the following precautions from the moment they first see the storm. Since lightning may not always be visible, do not refrain from taking such precautions.
