KOTTAYAM: A youngster who hacked his wife and mother-in-law in Mundakayam was found dead. Pradeep (48), a native of Karinilam, was found hanging. Beena (65) and her daughter Soumya from Cheruthottil, Punchavayal, are undergoing treatment after suffering serious injuries.

The accused entered the rented house where Soumya and Beena were staying at 11.50 am today and hacked them. Both suffered serious injuries in the attack. The neighbours rushed to the spot hearing the commotion and took the mother-daughter duo to the hospital.

Soumya was living estranged from her husband Pradeep for a long. Family disputes are doubted as the mainspring for the attack. The inquest proceedings are ongoing.
