THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two were injured after a car hit a scooter and fled away without caring to stop in Thiruvananthapuram’s Kowdiar. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in front of the Imperial Hotel, en route from Nanthancode to Kowdiar.

Sunitha, a native of Mannammoola Edakkulam, and her brother Sunil, who was driving the vehicle, were injured in the accident. Both suffered cuts and bruises. Sunitha's son is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The accident occurred when she was returning to the hospital with the food prepared for her son. A speeding car overtook the scooter and hit them on the sides, leaving the two riders in air for a brief second.

According to locals, the car initially stopped but then suddenly started moving again and escaped from the spot. The person driving the car was not identified. The vehicle's number was obtained from the CCTV footage of a nearby shop. From this, it was identified that the vehicle belonged to Surendra Babu, a native of Nettayam. A case was registered based on a complaint filed with the Museum police. The police said that both parties have been summoned to the station. After treatment at the Peroorkada Hospital, the injured returned home.
