THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan explained in the Assembly the steps taken in the recent allegations against the police. The explanation was in response to Roji M. John's urgent motion.

Sujith had filed a complaint with the Thrissur City District Police Chief on April 12, 2023, alleging that he was assaulted at Kunnamkulam station. The SI and four CPOs were transferred after investigation. Their annual salary increment was stopped for two years. The policemen were suspended on the 6th. The Chief Minister also clarified that a review of the departmental disciplinary action is underway.

The complaint regarding Peechi station is that SHO Ratheesh assaulted the hotel owner KP Ouseph, his son and staff. The Mannuthi SHO is investigating two cases. The explanation is that Ratheesh was transferred to the Thrissur City Traffic Enforcement. However, Ratheesh was suspended this evening.

A case has been registered against Sajeev, who accompanied the complainant to Kannanallur station in Kollam, for verbally abusing and creating a ruckus with the police.

Amal Antony had failed to cooperate with the police who had come to his house to investigate a complaint regarding the missing battery of an inverter in a private institution under the Muvattupuzha station limits. He was then taken to the station. Amal was released after the complainant checked the battery and stated that it was not his.

The Peroorkada police had registered a case against the maid on the complaint of the house owner that her gold necklace was stolen. A case has been registered against the driver of a vehicle in Adoor for drunk driving and obstructing the police in the execution of police duties in a road accident case that occurred on January 1, 2020. Five months later, the person collapsed at home and died on the way to the hospital. The postmortem report states that the cause of death was a heart-related illness.

The District Special Branch DySP is investigating a complaint against an SI for pepper spray in the eyes of the complainant at Chirayinkeezhu station.

A case was registered at Kundara station on October 10, 2024, against Thompson Thankachan for harassing his wife and family members. Two months later, he was found dead at his residence. The Chief Minister also informed that it was clear that the cause of death was excessive alcohol consumption and pancreatic and gall bladder disease.
